Mt. Chimborazo - Highest Point of the Center of the Earth

Not many people know about Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador. This mountain has a height of 6310 meters (20,703 feet), slightly different from Mount Everest, but has the distinction of Chimborazo is the highest mountain above the center of the earth. This is because the Earth has a round shaft. As the shaft round, Earth is the most extensive on the equator. Chimborazo is just one degree south of the equator of the earth and the location it is 6384 kilometers from the center of the Earth, or about 2 miles farther from Earth's center than Mount Everest.
