High Force

High Force is a waterfall is very beautiful and stunning, located on the River Tees, near Middleton-in-Teesdale, Teesdale, County Durham, England. And was rumored that this waterfall is the highest waterfall in England, at 21.5 meters (71 feet).

High Force is formed where the River Tees across the Whin Sill, hard layer of igneous rock. The waterfall itself consists of three types of rocks. The upper part consists of whinstone, or dolerite, a hard igneous rock waterfall requires a lot of time to erode. The lower part consists of Carboniferous Limestone, a soft stone that is more easily worn out by the waterfall. Between the two layers is a thin layer of Carboniferous sandstone. And in winter, this waterfall will freeze, creating a cathedral-like ice formations.
